Day 4 – Wednesday

Theme: Jesus prayed in Gethsemane

Read: Matthew 26:36-45

Say: Jesus was very sad as He prayed. He knew he was about to suffer a horrible death on the cross to pay the price for our sins. But Jesus prayed to God and said “Let what you want be done, not what I want.”

Ask: Why did Jesus have to die on the cross?

Pray: Thank you Jesus for paying the price for our sins when you died on the cross. Help me to accept your will for my life, just like you accepted God’s will for yours.

Do: Just like Jesus prayed, we can make a habit of praying to God. Create a simple prayer journal with your children using a small bound journal or just several sheets of paper stapled together. Let them decorate the outside and encourage them to write down their prayers daily to God.
