for the glory of God

One of the best things for a marriage is the Gospel. One of the best things for a city is to be filled with marriages grounded in the Gospel. That’s why we created a Marriage Ministry at City Church. We are excited about preparing couples for life together, proactively keeping healthy marriages strong and graciously restoring struggling couples. We offer biblically based premarital classes, marriage mentoring, marriage groups and seasonal enrichment events to glorify God by strengthen marriages.

 WHAT WE DO:

Our premarital mentoring process is two-fold: we desire to teach a strong Biblical foundation for marriage (as it is an earthly picture of the Gospel); we also want to provide couples with tools and skills to practically navigate life together. (because marriage takes work!) Therefore, our premarital mentoring program is broken up into two phases:

1.    Engaged couples go through our 4 week "Meaning of Marriage" class.

2.    Then we match couples with Marriage Mentors for 4-6 weeks to learn  practical tools and skills for a thriving marriage.

We have several marriage enrichment environments like Newlyweds Groups, Re/engage Groups and Marriage Events that run throughout the year.

Newlyweds Groups: These groups are for couples that have completed our Premarital  Program and desire to spend a year together creating community with other newlyweds. Our marriage mentors will guide you through small group discussion based on biblical marriage curriculum. Start your marriage off strong!

Re/engage Groups: Whether your marriage needs to be reignited or completely resurrected, re|engage is a safe place for you and your spouse to reconnect. To learn more about Re|engage Groups CLICK HERE. Offered in the fall and spring semesters on Sunday nights. Our marriage mentors will guide you through small group discussion based on Re/Engage Marriage curriculum. Childcare is provided upon RSVP. (Groups started up 9/15/24 and are currently full.) Marriage Events: We provide seasonal marriage events and efforts to proactively enrich marriages at our church and in our city.

We have marriage mentors ready to come alongside couples with strained marriages, even if they are right in the middle of a crisis; offering biblical counsel, spiritual support and the hope of the Gospel. We are happy to sit down with you and hear your story and help identify next steps. NOTE: We are not licensed counselors, therefore we are also happy to connect you with local professional counselors in our city, if desired.
